"The City of Reno, City of Sparks, Washoe County, and Sun Valley GID are engaged in a feasibility study to assess whether combining local park systems into a single regional parks district could improve services, funding, and efficiency. Parks systems face inconsistent service, aging facilities, and chronic underfunding. A feasibility study and Service Plan is a required first step under Nevada law and sets the foundation to determine if a Park District makes sense. Community survey results show strong public support, with most residents valuing parks highly and many open to modest additional funding if it improves maintenance, equity, and regional coordination."
